Our approach to prenatal care is customized to meet your unique needs, and we welcome both partners and children to join and engage in every appointment.

We recommend that your care begins around 10-12 weeks, however this made vary between families.

Care Schedule:

+ Every 4 weeks until 28 weeks gestation

+ Every 2 weeks between 28-36 weeks gestation

+ Weekly from 36 weeks until birth

PRENATAL CARE

INITIAL VISIT

  • Review of health history (obstetrical/gynecological, family, and social)

  • Physical exam, vitals, weight check, and urine analysis

  • Fetal growth and heartbeat

  • Initial laboratory tests; Sneek Peak early gender testing, genetic (NIPT), and carrier screening available

  • Nutrition education, exercise recommendations, and how to maintain a low-risk pregnancy

ROUTINE VISITS

  • Discuss all questions and concerns, in depth

  • Vitals, weight check, and urine analysis

  • Fetal assessment, including position, growth, and heartbeat

  • Review laboratory and ultrasound results

  • On-going assessment for risk factors or signs and symptoms of complications

28 WEEK VISIT

  • 28 week labs, including gestation diabetes screening or glucometer education (with client consent)

  • All components of a routine prenatal visit

  • RhoGAM administration (if indicated and with client consent

36 WEEK HOME VISIT

  • Drop off birth tub (if client is having a waterbirth), ensure adequate location for water hookups

  • Group Beta Strep (GBS) screening (with client consent)

  • Review birth plan and preferences

  • Verify birth kit was received

  • Tour of home, review of transport procedures

  • All components of a routine prenatal visit

LABOR + BIRTH

Your midwife and a trained birth assistant will arrive at your home during active labor to set up for the birth and monitor you and your baby.

  • Physical and emotional support for both you and your partner during the labor and birth

  • Undisturbed monitoring of your vitals and intermittently of the baby’s heartbeat with a Doppler

  • IV Antibiotics for individuals who are Group Beta Strep (GBS+) positive (with client consent)

  • Emergency medications and supplies needed for neonatal resuscitation, if needed

  • Skin-to-skin and delayed cord clamping

  • Lactation support and feeding initiation

  • 2-4 hours of immediate postpartum care for both you and the baby, or until the family is stable and comfortable

  • Newborn exam, including routine newborn medications (Erythromycin eye prophylaxis and/or Vitamin K, with client consent

POSTPARTUM CARE

Routine postpartum and newborn care continues until 6-8 weeks after birth

Care Schedule:

+ Between 24-48 hours, at your home

+ 3 days after birth

+ 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and between 6-8 weeks after birth

  • Lactation education and assistance

  • Newborn weight checks

  • Tongue and lip tie evaluation and referral

  • Newborn screening tests, including Critical Congenital Heart Defect (CCHD), and Newborn Metabolic Screening

  • Pap Test (with client consent) and postpartum labs (if indicated) at 6-8 weeks after birth

  • Birth Certificate filing and Acknowledgment of Paternity (if applicable)

  • Itemized global billing available to submit to insurance for reimbursement (not guaranteed)

+ Standard of care recommended exams, including Pap testing and breast exams, referrals for breast cancer screening, and laboratory tests as needed.

+ Gender inclusive visits including contraception information and education, safe sex education & resources, STI screening, and infection testing.

ANNUAL GYN EXAMS + CONTINUING HEALTH VISITS

PRE-CONCEPTION COUNSELING

If you are planning to conceive in the next year, meet for an in-depth office visit to discuss fertility, nutrition, vitamins and other supplements, exercise, avoidance of toxins, stress relief, and emotional health.

PREGNANCY TESTING + ALL OPTIONS COUNSELING

We offer free pregnancy testing and counseling for those who may be unsure of their next steps. Referrals are available to local resources as needed. There is no requirement to be involved in midwifery care or planning a home birth.

SNEAK PEEK CLINCAL | FETAL SEX CHROMOSOME TESTING

Fetal sex chromosome testing available at early at 6 weeks gestation. Proven to be 99.9% accurate, backed by clinical research.

+ Available to all individuals for $129, with results typically given next business day. Midwifery care not required, use scheduling link for booking.
