Taylor Rackey,

BSM, LM, CPM

I felt called to this work after the birth of my own son in 2011, where I had the opportunity to experience an intervention-free hospital waterbirth under the care of a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). My profound birth experience at the age of 19 led me down a path in efforts of helping other birthing people during this transformative time.

After attending a DONA International training to become a doula in 2016, I quickly decided that my place in birthwork ran deeper. I decided to apply to the Midwives College of Utah, where I was accepted for the 2018 cohort. In January of 2018, I was given the opportunity for a position as a student midwife at a high-volume free-standing birth center in Oregon, where I had recently located my family.

I spent my time learning from an unmatched mixture of clinical training from three (Certified Professional Midwife) CPM's. With a balance between the ancient art of midwifery and learning how to apply family-centered, evidence-based care, I have learned from strong models of positive and professional relationships. During my apprenticeship, I attended over 115 births and logged over 5,000 clinical hours.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Midwives College of Utah in 2022 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Midwifery (BSM), and passed the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) exam to become a CPM. I went on to license and become a Medi-caid provider in the state of Oregon where I continued practicing, attending births and fine-tuning my skills.

In 2023, our family collectively agreed upon embarking on a significant journey – a return to the sentimental land of Nevada, a state that saw the start of my simple upbringing and early life experiences. Our motivations and driving force were rooted in a deep-felt desire to make a meaningful impact on the vibrant Reno community in a unique way – by offering midwifery services with a sense of purpose and integrity.

BIRTH ASSISTANT + DOULA + STUDENT MIDWIFE

It's important to mention that although Nevada doesn't currently provide licensure options, your midwives have taken proactive steps to completing their education at accredited midwifery schools (MEAC) and maintaining licensure in neighboring states.

This choice reflects our commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of your family.
